In 7th Grade art we work with several mediums continuing to build skills. We use, colored pencils, water colors, tempera cake paints, tempera liquid paints, and collage just to list a few. Students are encouraged to work each class period and will be given several class periods to complete a project. Deadlines are set by the teacher and the teacher has the rights to change the deadline/due date of the project based on the classes needs. Students who do not meet the due date for whatever reason are encouraged to come during advisory time, or to set up a time before school to work on the artwork, or to work during homework club time as well.
7th Graders will get to create at least one clay piece as well this year. We have to work with the high school art department to get clay piece fired, so one clay piece a year is normal, but I will try to get two projects in if possible.
Work is not sent home for completion often as students do not have the supplies that are needed and there isn't always enough for students to leave with them for long periods of time. Work sent home for completion is on a case by case bases and project bases as well. If work is sent home and is not returned, then students will get an IE (Insufficient Evidence) for that project until it is returned completed.
